She first worked for Catalyst as managing editor from 1991 to 1996, then joined the Chicago Sun-Times as a staff reporter. She has also worked as a writer/producer for TV and as reporter for the Daily Southtown. She received a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Ohio State University.
