Rodney Estvan
Youth and Education Outreach Coordinator, Access Living
Access Living of Chicago is an organization that advocates for disabled and special-needs individuals, including students, and is linked to a national network of Centers for Independent Living. Estvan’s work focuses on the educational challenges facing disabled students in Chicago Public Schools. He has written several reports on special education services in CPS, including the April 2009 report “Renaissance 2010 and Students with Disabilities.” Estvan is a member of both the Illinois Attorney General’s Select Committee on Special Education and the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, a nonprofit group of lawyers, activists and parents that aims to ensure that disabled children receive a high-quality education. He holds a master’s degree in education from St. Xavier University, a master’s degree in political science from Roosevelt University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota.
